How Deep Into Soul started
Neil Pierce and Sy Sez launched the night in 2011 with a simple idea: a proper London party for people who love the soulful side of house music. Both are DJs and producers rooted in the music, and they built the event around warm, uplifting sets, strong vocals and a crowd that comes to dance.
The music
Expect the classic soulful house sound that runs from New York and Chicago through to today’s South African and UK producers. A typical night moves through:
- Deep, musical warm-up grooves
- Big vocal anthems and gospel-tinged house
- Afro-tinged and percussive soulful cuts
- Classics from labels like Defected, Strictly Rhythm and Nervous
Parties and venues
The night’s spiritual home is 93 Feet East on Brick Lane, which has hosted Deep Into Soul’s New Year’s Eve parties and its 14th birthday celebration. The crew has also played LDN East, The Cause (in a 2021 link-up with LHM) and UNDR W10, and teamed up with In The Loop LDN for summer boat parties from Tower Millennium Pier.

Why soulful house still matters
Soulful house carries the gospel, disco and R&B DNA of the original New York clubs. Nights like Deep Into Soul keep that tradition alive by giving the music a home on a proper sound system, with DJs who play for the dancefloor rather than the charts. Find upcoming dates on Resident Advisor.
