The history of Cafe Mambo Ibiza
In the early 1990s Javier Anadon saw the potential in a dilapidated finca on San Antonio’s rocky coastline. He and his wife Caroline opened it as a bar in 1994, just as the Balearic sunset tradition along the bay was taking off. Within a short time GQ had named it Bar of the Year, and it became one of the island’s essential stops before a night out.
It is still very much a family affair. Their sons, Christian and Alan Anadon, grew up at the venue and now play as the Mambo Brothers. In 2012 they started Mambo in the Mix, a charity event where guest DJs such as Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler served drinks and food for donations.
Sunsets and superclub pre-parties
Every evening crowds gather on the rocks and terrace to watch the sun drop into the sea while the DJs build the mood. On weekdays the venue hosts pre-parties for the island’s big clubs, so you can hear a headliner at sunset before they play later that night.
