Grant Nelson is a British DJ, producer, and remixer who has been active in the house music scene since the early 1990s. He is considered one of the pioneers of UK garage, a sub-genre of house music that emerged in the UK in the mid-1990s.
Swing City Records
Grant Nelson started his music career as a DJ in the late 1980s and began producing his own music in the early 1990s. He first gained widespread recognition with his hit single “In The Dark” in 1994, which was released on Nice ‘n’ Ripe Records, a prominent UK garage label. He went on to release numerous tracks on Nice ‘n’ Ripe and other labels, including Swing City Records, which he co-founded.
Nelson’s music is characterised by its soulful and funky sound, incorporating elements of disco, funk, and jazz into his productions. He has remixed tracks for a wide range of artists, including Jamiroquai, Beverly Knight, Jodeci, Simply Red, GUY, James Brown, Another Level and The Artful Dodger.
In addition to his music production work, Nelson has also been a prominent figure in the UK dance music scene as a DJ and radio host. He has performed at numerous clubs and festivals worldwide and has hosted his radio shows on various stations, including Kiss FM and D3EP Radio Network.
